MODELLING

Who models at Photosphere.

People who model at photosphere can be divided into two categories.

The first are those who wish to employ my services to obtain a set of photographs for a portfolio or just for fun.

The other are those who I invite to model for me.

Models of all ages are welcome. I have photographed people from two years old to people in their fifties. The most common age group is however 20 to 35.

Some are models wanting to update their portfolios. Others are just looking for a few studio shots for the family album.

Models requiring portfolios.

Models wanting to update or expand their portfolios are welcome at Photosphere. You should check with your agency to see exactly what they require before coming to a shoot.

Different agencies will want to see a certain set of shots from full length to head and shoulders, as well as certain sets of clothing. This information must be passed on to me prior to the shoot.
For prospective models who do not belong to an agency, I can recommend a standard set of shots that should be acceptable for a first portfolio.
Models belonging to an agency should check if they are permitted to be photographed by a third party.

Just for fun.

The majority of people who approach me for studio photographs are people wanting a to update their photo albums or capture that point in their lives for their own personal reasons.

Whether you are wanting to be photographed with your boyfriend or spouse, or something more personal - an appropriate shoot can be set up.

Any input from you as to what you would like to get out of the shoot is welcomed as it is you who must be happy with the final product.

These shoots are very laid back and the model gets to set the mood as well as the pace.

Models invited by myself.

If I have approached you and asked if you are interested in modelling for me, then you fall into this category.

These shoots are for my own self promotion, practice or interest.
If I have approached you, it is because I have seen a characteristic in your appearance that I require for whatever set of photographs I wish to take.

Payment varies according to the photos being taken (discussed below). Photos taken at these shoots will be displayed on this website for promotional purposes. Should a model be unhappy with a particular photograph, she may request that it not be displayed on the site.

Makeup and outfits.

Makeup is done by my regular makeup artist. All photographs are taken in an overexposed black and white format, which means that normal makeup will simply disappear.
The makeup artist who's services I employ is familiar with the specific makeup needed for this photographic format. I therefore require that she does the makeup for all shoots.

Outfits are decided on a few days before the shoot. They will of course vary according to the model as well as the shoot. I have a number of outfits available, however the model will typically be responsible for the majority of the outfits. Hair is the responsibility of the model unless I have requested something specific.

Children.

Parents wanting photographs of or with their children are very welcome.

All dress and props are the responsibility of the parent. So also is keeping the child's interest in the proceedings.

Payment from clients.

Payment varies according to the requirements of the client, but the typical charge for a shoot is R800.

This includes the 3 hour photo shoot itself as well as a disk containing all the photographs from the shoot. The photos on the disk are full size and unmarked. Typically a shoot includes 80 to 100 photographs. Also included is the makeup done at the shoot.

Most photographers charge a lesser amount for the shoot, but do not supply the digital copy and make their money selling the prints. I supply all photographs in a digital format which can be printed at a low cost at any photographic shop or used on a PC or Mac.

Payment to Models.

Payment varies according to what is required from the model.

Payment may be in cash at the end of the shoot or the model may choose to take a full set of unmarked digital photographs as payment.
This is the choice of the model in question and is open to discussion.

The makeup is covered by myself, but the hair is not, unless I request something specific.

Nudity.

With invited models as well as clients who wish to have nudity or partial nudity in their shoot - this must be arranged before the shoot and is never done without prior arrangement.

Any model wishing to include an element of nudity in their shoot must be over 18 years of age. Anyone in this group who is under the age of 21 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

Any models wishing to include an element of nudity in their shoot who are married must be accompanied by their spouse for the duration of the shoot.

No photographs containing nudity will be displayed on this site without the permission of the model.
